I think they just reconfigured their yard to separate the elephants. I am sure this is probably is preparation for expanding their herd, but my guess is they'd only get one more elephant by that time. Or I hope so anyway since I don't think the yard is big enough for more than three elephants.

I was told by an employee (when I visited last summer) that the barn can only hold 4 elephants, but it is nice for the facility to have a "shift stall" and thus the zoo will likely obtain a 3rd female elephant and then that would meet the AZA requirements.
