This Trachypithecus phayrei, named "Hui Hui", used to be one of the most-beloved animal in this zoo. The zoo had made great effort to find a female for him, but failed finally. At the last, he shared the enclosure with a capped langur, and they become good friends. However, after his loved keeper retired from work, his condition became poor quickly, and died after several years. After he died, his good friend "Xiao Hui" the capped langur also died not before long. The species can be seen in south and west part of Yunnan, though the population becomes very rare now due to the ongoing conversion of old-growth tropical forest to plantation of rubber, eucalyptus or farmland.
