The last remaining cat dens that used to be the norm for nearly all of Marwell's felids in the Serval House (originally Cheetah). Based on travelling circus holdings, they are small wooden dens on raised brick supports. They were deemed unsuitable, but cats lived and bred successfully in them. 15th November 2009.

Holding areas involving lots of red brick and wood are GREAT for cat breeding because they are cosy and warm materials and it is no secret that cats appreciate this.Things automatically become more of a challenge in holding areas incorporating concrete , steel and glass.Old holding areas were often aesthetically objectionable and nasty, but in many cases better served the animals´ interests than more recent and much more expensive efforts.
