"Step into Africa", the new lion exhibit featuring 3 of the cats, opens on June 2nd. Will it be adjacent to the olive baboon enclosure and is there any kind of connection between the elephant, baboon and future lion exhibits or are they not tied together thematically?
It actually opened today. They are all tied together thematically. This is the first zoo to create a design inspired by the Ngorongoro Crater in Africa. Since there's an overlook looking down into the exhibit, it's easy to see why they decided to chose that area. Visitors will first enter the Masaai Village with goats and a place to eat. The lion exhibit is in the center. The dig zone and baboon exhibit come next and the elephant exhibit is at the end. I also believe there is a cut out of a Crowned Crane to take you on the adventure to different locations in the exhibit.
