Olive Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) - Uozu Aquarium

Apparently this tank once housed sea turtles... I shudder to think about it. What you see in this image is about half of the tank, a shallow pool sunk into the floor.

I would've mistook this as a photo from a fish market haha, no offense. Seems very bare.

@DaLilFishie Sometimes hearing about what used to be held in a habitat is too shocking for words. Antwerp's mouse enclosures used to hold chimpanzees... Artis' python terrarium used to be a whole -*ss tiger cage.

So glad these exhibits now hold slightly more appropriate species
