Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo - 4-acre Aviary

July 2008. There are over 120 bird species in this enormous walk-through aviary.

Wow, 4 acres! That's almost the same size as the elephant paddocks in the Pachyderm Forest are going to be.

This is apparently one of the largest bird aviaries on the planet, and I enjoyed strolling along the wide boardwalk. A major complaint that I have was that a lot of the signage was old and peeling, and so it was difficult to find out which bird species lived there.

The aviary is one of my favorite parts of the zoo. It's so relaxing to walk through there and nice and shady on a hot day.
