Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo - Orangutan Exhibit

July 2008. Two mesh enclosures, separated for two different groups of orangutans. There are 65-foot, enormous fake banyan trees that have loads of ropes and vines hanging off of them in the center of the habitats. One of the mesh enclosures also has gray/mueller's gibbons swinging around on the huge tree, and overall I like these exhibits as for once the orangutans are actually off of the ground in a major zoo.

I think all the LA zoo's Orangutan exhibits need is some climbing structures like this.

Omaha's orangutan exhibit is different from many others because it isn't really large or set in a wide field. But I love the 65-foot trees and other climbing ropes, even though the mesh is tough to photograph through.
