The men in front of the gate are Harry Schram, a human zoo encyclopaedia from Antwerpen in Belgium, and Ken Kawata, former curator and general curator of several US zoos. He is also an authority on zoo history and the gateway between the western zoo world and the mystical Japanese zoo world. For an amateur like myself, it was a treat to visit the zoo with them.
