Orang House

Ongoing work on the orang house, should be ready by March 2010

What is it they're doing, just expanding the old house?

visited yesterday 27th oct, they have now finished putting the roof on at the back and it looks like they are extending the indoor area for the orangutangs as the roof now extends from the original height of the front building.

As well as what Adrian said as far as I know the house will be open to the public again.

I think it may turn out a bit like the chimp house indoor enclosure were the public maybe able to see them inside from one part of the building.

This is a major improvement at last..

It looks to me like the animals may now have almost the whole of the(original) inside house as cagespace. this would certainly increase their living space. Maybe the public will view them through windows from outside?

Obviously plans to move them elsewhere in the Zoo have been shelved/cancelled if they are doing major work here.
