It is interesting to see that the ruined temple-mock/rock theme of the orangutan exhibit continues from the elaborately designed but mainly useless indoor area to the slightly more impressive outside zone. This zoo seems to have several enclosures that are small but not truly terrible (gorilla, tiger, lion, etc) but then some awful ones as well (polar bear). I've heard that the Children's Zoo is excellent, but can the entire zoo be seen in 3 hours or less?
Snowleopard, you can definitely see the whole zoo under three hours. I tend to find myself going back to areas because I have extra time. If anything, I think you would enjoy the children's zoo.
I couldn't fit all the outdoor section in one photo. The beam on the farthest left would be the back corner of their exhibit. And they also have the indoor exhibit connected to this section. The exhibit definitely isn't big and lacks vertical space, but as I've always said, I think the orangutans make the best of it. Because they are up close with visitors, they seem to love to interact with people. I often wonder how they feel in the winter when the zoo is closed and no visitors are there for daily interactions.
The best thing in that entire zoo is there asia section. Siamangs,Red pandas, a little collection of asian reptiles and most of all Bornean Orangutans. plus theres a little baby orangutan there
