This is a distinct improvement! Do you know how long the log platforms and extra climbing equipment extending over the moat have been in place? They now have a pretty good climbing area, much better than previously.
The planting along the barrier edge is good too- if only they could do away with the 'bowl-shape' backgrounds.

After visiting the ape house yesterday I was quite impressed with the indoor area as it's not a place I visit regularly when I'm there. Again it's not perfect but compared to the damp, cell-like rooms that they were kept in when I was a child then it's amazing.
One of my earliest zoo related memories involves the chimps going crazy in their tiny little room. Scared the life out of 4 year old me!
