The Orange-bellied Parrot display aviary, opened by Peter Menkhorst last Thursday morning. It is longer than it looks in this shot, the front 1/4 is the "beach" with a pond, the next 1/2 is planted out with salt marsh plants, and the back 1/4 is planted out with melaleuca and associated plants, and hopefully will become quite thick in future.

Sounds good. Lets hope they breed soon!

How will you maintain saltmarsh plants? I thought such plants, such as Zostera, required saltwater inundation relatively regularly?

One thought was to wait for global warming to kick in, the exhibit is only 500 meters from king tides as it is:)

Working with a local indigenous nursery we chose plants that didn't need flooding plus a few "look alikes" .
