Orangutan and gibbon crossover, September 2018

So here we go, the grand finale to my Dublin photos - a small selection of the many I took of the orangs ;)

These cables connect the orang house and enclosure to their island so, if you're lucky, you can look up and see them going across. The fake trees in the enclosure and on the island still seem to be successful with a lot of climbing going on. The orangs recognise the sound of the lift taking food up inside the trees to the top where they can access it through little holes. Apparently male, Sibu, lost weight when the new exhibit first opened but then gained it in the form of muscle. I didn't see him and Leonie (aged 37) going across this time, but the others and the Siamang made full use of it.
