Osnabrück, Hannover and a few others once kept several bear species together. It began when the animals arrived as cubs and it was only supposed to be temporary. But then for various reasons they never built exhibits for each species. The bears of course grew up together, mostly in peace, so this went on. Only one Brown remained when I went to Hannover Zoo but Osnabrück still had one Polar, two Brown and one Asiatic Black Bear at the time of my visit.
