Is this fairly new exhibit regarded as one of the best in the zoo? There was a photo of a snow leopard up against the glass that was posted on ZooChat recently, and it seems that for the most part there has been acclaim for this enclosure. It is certainly better than any of the many primate exhibits found at the World Primate Penitentiary.
It is very spacious and naturalistic. The stonework you commented on has been used to replicate rocky scree slopes and give a 'Himalayan' feel- very different from the concrete and brickwork used in building many of the previous less creative buildings in the Zoo.
The 'Himalaya' centre (it does not actually include entrance into the Zoo!), gift shop and eating areas together with this large animal enclosure were all funded by a Grant. So it represents a very different style and approach of design to their other buildings. Some people have commented that this 'first impressions' enclosure should have contained Primates if that is Twycross' speciality- but the nature of the funding has also dictated the choice of species here, I think.

I say old bean, that word 'daff' is used by street flower vendors as a short form of the word 'daffodil'. I rather think you meant to put 'daft', don't y'know. Toodle pip!
It is the fact that Twycross nowadays promote themselves as the 'World Primate Centre' but that the first and flagship animal exhibit has nothing to do with Primates.
