The most entertaining part of the zoo, as the Japanese macaques are quite adept swimmers and are not afraid to go for a skinny dip with the public watching. There are a number of rocks that are in the water and thus used as stepping stones by the monkeys, and when I visited in 2008 my wife and I spent at least half an hour viewing the active primates.
