And to think we'd be getting ready for the grand opening this year if it weren't for the ridiculous protests and delays. It seems they've done quite a bit in just the last week and a half since I was last there. Maybe an early completion date? ...Not likely, there are still huge areas to be worked. Things are coming along nicely though.

I thought this portion was opening before the whole thing is opened, so that people are able to see Billy sooner.
 
The boardwalk and bamboo both fit in well with the enclosure, and I'm sure that there will be some eager ZooChatters comparing L.A. to San Diego in the future in terms of elephant exhibits.

I thought about that as well. Billy is nearby, and it would be a great teaser to allow us zoogoers a sneak peak of what's in store.
