This brand-new aquarium is costing $52 million, will be larger than many Sea Life centres, and opens in a few months. The great thing about the project is that it is paid for via a taxpayer bond that covers almost $200 million in improvements to Point Defiance Zoo, Northwest Trek Wildlife Park and the 760-acre Point Defiance Park. Most big American zoos have local bond issues that are supported by taxpayers.
