The iconic Egyptian Temple was designed by Charles Servais and dates back to 1855-1856. Together with the reconstructed raptor aviaries (now housing parrots) it is the oldest surviving building at Zoo Antwerpen, which first opened its doors in 1843. Drawings include some of the zoo's early history.
