I always associate this place with a visit to London Zoo , passing it on the walk from Camden Town tube station . It has not been a petshop for some time but nice to see the restored exterior . I remember seeing monkeys for sale there .

I always used to dip in here too, on the same journey. In the 1960/70's era they had a lot of animals in stock. Then more recently it just became a general petshop with a much smaller range of animals for sale. Evidently no longer now.

It does still exist, its on the other side of the road from where it use to be now, Its very small and does not have any live stock, other then 2 cats that live in the shop

This old shop front is listed now so the cafe cant change it!

I'm pretty sure I visited here once during my first visit to London back in 1982. I have a slide somewhere of an Emerald Toucanet they had for sale.

Palmers Pet Shop

I had various birds and terrapins from here in the 70s, and always regret not being brave enough to ask the [probably trifling] price of a Caracara that sat in there for a while. I would be fascinated by any reminiscences people have of this place, which operated as a pet shop on the grand scale for many decades, spanning the period from when it was acceptable to have a pet monkey to when it most definitely wasn't.

If I remember correctly, George Jacob worked there are wrote a chapter on the place in his book "Memoirs of a Coarse Zoo Keeper".
