Pantanal - Jaguar Exhibit - Viewing Shelter

Taken 3/29/21. This new exhibit complex is composed of 11 exhibits, 2 of which are refurbished existing aviaries. The feature mixed species exhibit houses Baird's tapir, capybara, Coscoroba swan, giant anteater, greater rhea, and Southern crested screamer.
Is that boardwalk in front for the jaguars? And if so, why would they ruin a natural exhibit like this? Also @geomorph where in the zoo is Pantanal? Did they replace the former carnivore section with this? (And if not, is the old jaguar exhibit still there?).

Yes this boardwalk is in the exhibit, I did not feel that it was necessary but not offensive either. I did not see a jaguar to observe if it used this. I should have taken several more shots of the interior of the exhibit to tell its story.

I am guessing that the complex is in a location that used to have several hoofstock yards when I visited in 2010, such as giant eland and nyala. It is adjacent to the extensive bird area that is now closed except for the three bird exhibits at the end of the Pantanal path.

The older carnivore area is still there, although I did not pay enough attention to see if the jaguar was still there; I do not think it was.

Here I was looking for an old map for comparison, and I found it here.
