A view into the separate exhibit for tayras (Eira barbara) inside Jungle Trek in the Papiliorama. This picture shows about 1/4 of the exhibit for this species which the Papiliorama is one of the few zoos in Europe to keep and breed.
Jungle Trek is a dome-shaped tropical house 40 meters in diameter and 18 meters tall. It was opened in 2008 and was a major expansion of the Papiliorama.
Jungle Trek is meant to be a little piece of Shipstern, the nature reserve in Belize that the Papiliorama Foundation manages in situ, and shows wildlife from that region.
