This photo must have been taken very soon indeed before this individual, the last onshow in Europe, passed away.

As such, I hope you realise how homicidally jealous I now am of you ;) especially when one considers what a good shot this is!

Thank you! I suppose based on your jealousy level it's a good thing I have the Atlantic Ocean between us haha! Yea this was taken July 6th, 2010. Not sure when this individual passed away.

Exact date unknown, but sometime in July or August 2010.

Wow I am very lucky indeed then. This little guy (or gal) was the main reason I came to Paradise Wildlife Park (also to photograph Black-tailed Marmoset). It all kinda evens out. The European Mole I was hoping to photograph at British Wildlife Center had passed away a couple weeks before I arrived.

This female was named flower and was hand reared, attempts to breed from her never came of anything unfortunatly.

Thankfully there are still a few pairs kept privately in the UK, however after seeing pictures of these individuals I am sure they are actualy Saharan striped polecat ( Ictonyx libycus ) and not zorrilas.

Which would make sense, as I believe this species is more common in private hands anyhow. I'd love it if either made a comeback though.

It is quite gratifying to note that not only has Zorilla finally made a comeback to European public collections, almost exactly seven years after the last one died, but that a) it was @stubeanz who was responsible for this development and b) I have now been fortunate enough to see the species!

Worth the wait.
