Parrot aviary

Photo from outside - the aviary was set up for visitors to feed the birds for a fee. Most of the birds inside were fully-flighted mutation Green-cheeked Conures, but there were individuals of other species chained to branches around the perimeter. November 2024
I see all of those Green-cheeked Conures - someone is doing a good job of breeding them! I'm sorry to hear about the chained psittacines - that stinks! I see some Orange-winged Amazons, Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoos, Blue-and Gold Macaws, Red-breasted Parakeets, at least one male Eclectus Parrot, a Galah, possibly a Derbyan Parakeet, possibly an Umbrella Cockatoo, and possibly a Red-lored Amazon. And there might be two Silver-eared Mesias near the top left corner of your photo!

@Summer Tanager Where are you seeing Red-breasted Parakeets? There are three Derbyans on the left. I think the passerines at top left are wild Tree Sparrows (hard to tell from the photo but that seems most likely). I've got the cockatoos as Greaters not Lessers (they looked too big for Lessers, but it was hard to see into the back of the aviary - the photo makes it look lighter than it actually was). I think the cockatoo half-hidden at the back-right might be a Moluccan rather than Umbrella. And I missed the Red-lored Amazon!

Thank you for the corrections! I was seeing the three Derbyan Parakeets as two Red-breasted and one Derbyan. I wasn't sure about the cockatoos - I was mostly guessing that they were Lessers based on my perception of their size and Lessers tend to be more common in captivity in the U.S. where I live. I'm sure you're right about those being sparrows in the upper left corner - I think I'm guilty of making them into something more interesting than they really are, but sparrows make a lot more sense! The bird that I think is a Red-lored Amazon is in the very back right-hand side of the photo to the left of the Galah and behind and above two cockatoos. It appears to have a red forehead so I'm inclined to think it's a Red-lored Amazon because that's the most common species, but it could be a Lilac-crowned or a Red-crowned Amazon.
