Is there still just a single, young Asian Elephant at the zoo? It doesn't seem as if this exhibit is capable of holding many more elephants, so perhaps it will be like Antwerp and a holder for a couple of bachelors at a time.
@snowleopard The zoo still only holds a lone female, but she seems fairly happy all things considered. I don't think increasing the exhibit's size would affect her welfare in any way really, since she always has a keeper in there with her cleaning her feet, playing with her, hosing her down, kicking a football around... Honestly she's probably the elephant with the most access to enrichment I've ever seen despite her apparently barren enclosure. On the flip side she definitely could do with some company so I think having another fairly docile female would do her a lot of good. I'm honestly not concerned for her welfare though having watched her for hours.
