Peahen and chicks, 27th July 2014

If they survive it looks like a white and a normal.

Is the mother a female 'black-shouldered' type? I believe the hens of that type/species are paler(like this) than the ordinary 'Blue' hens.

Yes, FBBird has identified it as such. Neither I nor the zoo staff and volunteers were aware of it. As the volunteer who obtained it (and I am trying to persuade him to join the site - you know you want to Mr X, and you could post some of those excellent photos you took on Friday) said, FBBird is very knowledgeable as are lots of other ZooChatters.

Maybe he would know what happens when Blackshouldered and Blue peafowl are crossed( as perhaps here?). Whether one colour is dominant or what.

I do prefer the normal Blue peafowl myself.
