Pergesa acteus (Sphinx Moth)

A pair of 'false-eyes' are apparent on the dorsal ridge of their thorax, making them appear more menacing to potential threats. This lepidopteran's host plants consist of several elephant-ears of the genera Alocasia and Colocasia, some of which are planted within the grounds of the zoo.

Taken during a nighttime biodiversity survey.
