If I were trying to "score points" I'd have pointed out that you had named a new species in your first post!
I just don't understand how the cat can "look bigger" when there is nothing in the photograph to scale.

It may just be a winter coat, but this specimen appears to be stockier in build than say and arabian sand cat. One can often judge the size of an animal based on its bodily preparations and personally this cat appears as though it would weigh more and in general be a thicker set animal.
