Phoenix Zoo - African Wild Dog Exhibit

August 2008.
The African wild dog and cheetah exhibits are right next to each other and almost identical in size and shape. Both are spacious, with lots of shade, water and room to roam.

That bermuda grass lawn there takes a lot less water than the Forest of Uco. Bermuda is the common variety of lawn in the Phoenix area. It's a relatively low-water use variety, and it only gets watered in the heat of the summer. The zoos irrigation system uses reclaimed water, which I believe is tied into the lake system (I could be wrong on that) (For someone who used to spend his days mapping that dad-blasted sprinkler system, I should know a bit more about it than I do.)
