These large cyprinids were a delight to spot. A number of these were imported into Singapore's ornamental trade pretty recently, which is possibly where these animals came from.
Juveniles do not get the same amount of spotting as the adults do. Fully mature individuals sport reddish or yellowfish fins.
Threatened in the wild, mainly from habitat loss/degradation due to ongoing damming works in the region.
