Pittsburgh Zoo - Mandrill Exhibit

July 2008. All the green plants are outside the cage, and the mandrills are subjected to an environment that is 99% fake.

This is such a deceiving photo, hence my explanation of the lush plants in the background. In actuality it is one of the worst mandrill enclosures in North America, and perhaps only about double the size of what is shown in this photo.

The exhibit even looks too steep for the Mandrills.

I can quickly think of three AZA zoos with mandrill exhibits that are smaller than this, with fewer climbing opportunities and are less aesthetically pleasing. I guess I'll let you off the hook since you said "one of the worst"
