Plan of the Ape-house at Antwerp how it was by its opening in 1959. Indoors almost nothing has changed, luckily the out-door enclosures have been made larger. At the time of the opening the following animals were kept inhere:
3-1 Eastern lowland gorillas ( then thought to be Mountain gorillas )
1-2 Western lowland gorillas
2-1 orang-utans
1-4 Chimps
2-4 Schweinfurt chimps
