From what I can see in the pictures and from seeing the outside of the exhibit before it opened, it looks very similar to the World of the Platypus set up at Healesville in Melbourne (but smaller) and the Lone Pine zoo in Brisbane. Those facilities also have reverse lighting and moving water for the platypus to splash in.
@Great Argus it was very nice indeed, the platypuses would constantly be interacting with their environment. Eve would go to their burrowing hole every so often while Birra would like to hang out in this bigger pool. Despite being dark for some people to see, it’s a fantastic exhibit! My phone lit up the photos pretty well but darkened up the panoramic which I’ll try to edit a bit
@DavidBrown based on how you described the other facilities with similar habitats, I would also concur as to their design and inception. Even though it is dark, although during the morning times it’s slightly brighter due to some sunlight peering through, the reverse lighting and constant moving water was such a smart idea and honestly I love it!
