Camelids belong to the suborder Tylopoda, the suborder has a long fossil record in both North America and Europe, and appeared during the Eocene around 46 million years ago, Camelids are the only extant family in the Tylopoda suborder, the family Camelidae appeared 45 million years ago during the middle Eocene in what is now Alaska.
Believe it or not but the earliest camelids were the size of a large rabbit and belonged to the genus Protylopus which consisted of 5 species.
The camelid genus that this statue is based off of is Camelops
