Potto, January 2014

...showing that characteristically 'goofy' look.

Beautiful photo! I hope to see these when I visit on Tuesday :D

Thank you! As with all nocturnal displays, it's worth trying to get there as soon as possible after the zoo opens. In my experience, these chaps are usually quite easy to see, while the loris are much harder (primarily because there's lots of stuff preventing visitors from getting too close to the glass).

Bizarrely, I have always tended to find the exact opposite; that the loris are constantly active and the nocturnal lighting is bright enough to make them easy to spot, whilst the slow movement of the pottos and much dimmer lighting in their enclosure makes them require rather more patience to spot.

Both are infinitely easier to spot than the galagos are!

I've seen the difficulty spotting the galagos mentioned before - I've only been to London once since they arrived but I went twice through the Clore and they were really active both times, as were the lorises. Pottos were asleep both times but easily visible (and with a face poking out).

Don't recall ever not seeing the pottos or the lorises on a visit; though the lorises tend to be livelier.

EDIT: That said, I would also make a point of hitting the nocturnal section early!

On my two visits since the galagos arrived, I have seen them both times - but it took a lot more time waiting at the enclosure to see them :P a lovely species though, it is a shame they are the only onshow galagos left in the UK.
