Prehensile-tailed porcupine (I spent time petting this inquisitive creature

November 7th, 2008. The Emperor Valley Zoo in Trinidad and Tobago had a mini-animal meet and greet set up at the University of the West Indies. There was a 2-year old mandrill, a prehensile-tailed porcupine, and then a number of snakes, iguanas turtles, caimans and macaws.

I love prehensile-tailed porcupines (not that I've ever seen a real one, but I still think they're fantastic!)

I actually managed to pet this porcupine a few times (very carefully:)), and on the University of West Indies campus there was at least one caiman living in a small pool/swamp near the cafeteria. It was the unofficial mascot of the university...haha.
