Pride of three lions

November 15, 2011.
The park has several groups of lions, some in prides and some males living solo. At various times they will all start roaring to announce their presence to each other which is a really nice experience to be standing there and hear so many lion roars echoing back and forth.

What Subspecies is this ??

Generic african. Being a non-accredited facility, they do not participate in SSP's and do not have access to pure subspecies. Of course, there is some debate whether or not there are even different subspecies of lions beyond african and asian. As you may or may not know, there are no asian lions anywhere in America.

I do not know for sure, but I doubt it. Before the park moved to its current location, they used to breed at their old facility when their animal collection was smaller and growing. Now that it they have so many lions and have less visitors because they are in a more remote location, I do not think they are breeding any more cats. Only breeding as far as I know are the hoofstock in the safari area.
