October 2008. This is the view from the top of what is locally called monkey hill. There are a series of primate exhibits along both sides of the pathway, and each and every cage is an atrocious example of the worst in zoos.

Rock bottom out of 180 zoos/aquariums. My worst aquarium would be a toss-up between the tiny Sea Life Caverns in West Edmonton Mall or Seaside Aquarium in Oregon. The Emperor Valley Zoo has these rarely exhibited mammal species: South American river otter, giant otter, crab-eating raccoon, tayra, jaguarundi, kinkajou, red brocket deer, mouse (murine) opossum and red howler monkey....but seeing rows of metal cages with cement floors for primates is downright depressing.
