Primate World - Mandrill Exhibit

July 30th, 2012.
How does this exhibit work - are you standing in front of a water-filled moat? Can you also see the mandrills through the cage wall in the back or is this the only way to view them?

This is the only viewing - across the water moat. It's OK; nothing special.

Always risky assessing any exhibit from a photo. but this image does suggest that filling in the moat and hot wiring might substantially enhance the space available for these animals.

Well, why dont they make it low so they cant jump?

Not sure what you mean - which bit should they make low?

Water barriers and islands are very common exhibit features for primates, so the exhibit above is nothing unusual.
