Providence Petrel, Pterodroma solandri

A large gadfly petrel endemic to the islands of the Norfolk Group and Lord Howe. Half a million of these birds were eaten by Norfolk Islanders over three years, eventually leading to their local extinction. Currently, there are only a small number of pairs nesting on the nearby Phillip Island.
