Yes, these are pure bred andean pumas. Pumas are not as endangered as the jaguar is in Argentina. It is remarkable how adaptable pumas are. If they can survive in suburban LA California, where else can they not go ?
 
So they're breeding well? That's good.
Although I find this enclosure rather small and barren for them... If that's all it is, of course.
 
Mendoza zoo has sent their chimp and elephants to sanctuaries in Brazil. It seems the native species like the. Pumas will stay. Currently zoos in argentina are hostage to polItical fights and there future is very uncertain.
 
@carlos55 Oh my god... The exact same thing is taking place in spain! All this "a giraffe/penguin shouldn't be in Barcelona/Madrid" bullcrap the "animalists" spout out.
Look, I'm all for protecting local wildlife, but you compare the biodiversity in Argentina with that in Spain and the problem becomes apparent.
