There are four subspecies of the Purple-faced Langur, an endemic species of Sri Lanka. I saw all four while I was there but did not manage to get any photos of the critically-endangered Western Purple-faced Langur T. v. nestor.
The subspecies in this photo is the Montane Purple-faced Langur or Bear Monkey T. v. monticola, taken at Ohiya where they are common. This is the most distinctive of all the subspecies with its thick fur to keep out the cold.
