Rainbow Aviary Chester Zoo 15 May 1980

This aviary was built in 1967 and demolished in 1986. It stood at teh south end of the picnic lawn and housed various pheasant species and other hardy birds.

The climbing plant Crimson Glory Vine (Vitis coignetiae) was grown over the western end to provide shelter.

A second, longer aviary stood at right angles to this one, parallal to the chimpanzee island. This aviary was used for various small parrots.
