Rainforest of the Americas construction August 23 2013

An aviary or primate exhibit? It is the only visible enclosure with netting on it as of August 23, 2013.

Have they started construction on the jaguar exhibit yet?

I honestly don't know. Other than what looks like the giant otter exhibit and a large aviary that I assume is for the harpy eagles, I cannot tell what is what yet in this complex. I didn't see anything that looks like a large predator exhibit yet though.

Thanks David. It is a bit hard to make out the final plans for this project. I just received a new issue of ZooView today, with a "new zoo" theme covering pretty much every new habitat that has opened at the zoo in the last 15 years or so. Noticeably missing was any preview of Rainforest of the Americas. In the past, there have always been issues giving us a sneak peek of what to expect. Why the silence for this project, other than a mapped out overview, totally baffles me.

I agree, there has been a lot of silence about this project, but I have a feeling it is due to all the changes and delays that have occurred the last two to three years. I'm sure (and hope) we will hear more once the grand opening day is known.

After reading the latest issue of ZooView (A New Zoo For You), it does mention a special issue that will highlight Rainforest of the Americas, due by about the time of the exhibits opening. This latest issue also mentions that they are awaiting the imminent hatching of Komodo Dragons and Santa Catalina Island Spotted Chuckwallas.
