JamesB, does Hong Kong have a traditional zoo also with standard zoo animals like great apes, big cats, elephants, giraffes, etc. or is Ocean Park the only animal attraction there?

Does anybody with knowledge of Hong Kong's zoo scene know if they have an actual zoo, or is Ocean Park their only animal attraction?

There is Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Garden. Admission is free and it has a park-like atmosphere with a few enclosures.

Two Chinese Alligators passed away on 11 January and 22 April respectively

I went there about 10 years ago when they had jaguars.

I feel like this a great opportunity for Hong Kong Disneyland. There are no large animal attractions besides ocean park. They could build a park like disneys animal kingdom on the land they already have.

Both seem very out of place given the rest of the stocklist! Even though the jaguars have gone now I imagine they would've still seemed a little out of place at the time.

Given the size, topography and land costs in Hong Kong, I wonder if such a thing is even possible.

If...and that's a big IF, Disney were to be eyeing a chance to do an Animal Kingdom style park overseas, my money would be on Shanghai.

Hong Kong Botanical Gardens used to have a major bird collection, breeding African Pygmy Geese & all the Peacock Pheasants
