Rajah lories

They stayed out of sight for most of my visit, but they eventually appeared when the rainbow lorikeets were meeting their public. There was so much noise that this pair appeared to shout at the dusky lories next door. Walled Garden, Paradise Park, Hayle, 27th May 2015.

Thank you. I had to work hard to get this image, but it was worth the effort.
Many species of lory are more colourful, but these are very stylish birds. I remember seeing the black lories (type subspecies) in Len Hill's collection at the original Birdland over 40 years ago. There were also birds of one of the red streaked subspecies: Zootierliste suggests they were Rajahs.

It was indeed worth the effort, that is a superb image GL.

And a species I've never seen.
