The first part of my submission on the Amazon for the thread "Make an Exhibit with that theme". This part will feature Arboreal and ground-dwelling mammals and large wetland birds of Amazonia. Species list below, extended description in the thread.
Realms of the Amazon - The Realm of the Capybara and the Saki

Dotted lists represent the different species kept in a mixed exhibit. Striped of numbered lists represent species kept in different exhibits within a complex or area. Numbers correspond to numbers on the map sketch.

Walk-through monkey forest 1
  • Black squirrel monkey, Blackish squirrel monkey or Black-headed squirrel monkey (Saimiri vanzolinii)
  • Red-handed howler monkey (Alouatta belzebul)
  • Cazuza’s saki (Pithecia cazuzai, formerly part of Monk saki P. monachus)
  • Amazonian brown brocket or Small brown brocket (Mazama nemorivaga)
  • Red-rumped agouti (Dasyprocta leporina)
Monkey islands and capybara herd

Capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) herd with access to part of monkey islands and water and land areas between monkey islands. The area the capybaras will be able to access is delineated with a narrow dark green dotted line on the map sketch.

Monkey islands 1 to 8

1) Gray woolly monkey (Lagothrix cana)
2) Tufted capuchin, Black-capped capuchin or Brown capuchin (Sapajus apella)
3) Black bearded saki (Chiropotes satanas)
4) Uta Hick's bearded saki (Chiropotes utahicki)
5) Lucifer titi (Cheracebus lucifer)
6) Golden-backed uakari or Black-headed uakari (Cacajao melanocephalus)
