Great success. Let's hope these animals build up a self-sustaining population in UK zoos.

BTW, I wouldn't like to be a passenger in a car driven by whoever decided to name this species "red-backed"...:)
 
I suspect the person who gave it the name wasn't thinking about the unusually pale-backed captive specimens. I've speculated before that this may be due to differences in diet or exposure to more sunlight than wild specimens, but who's to say. Admittedly, they're not really that "red" backed in the wild, but they're still more reddish –or at least orangish or rufescent– than the other bearded saki species (see my comment and photos here). One could also mention its relative, the white-nosed saki, which was named by a scientist working from museum specimens. The striking pink nose is only apparent when alive and he evidently didn't know about this.

Regardless of the names, great to see some breeding from this interesting species!
