Red-eyed tree frog

A common species in zoos, but I have never seen one active before: this individual woke up after food was added to the vivarium. Shot through the brown mantella vivarium (and therefore a total of four panes of glass) and heavily cropped. Amphibian Ark, Paignton, 9th October 2015

as you say, common enough in zoos but very rarely are they more showy than a green blob on a leaf

Great photo! And all the more impressive for having been shot at 1/6s at 450mm (effective) focal length; not to mention through several panes of glass too!

Thank you. I have just bought the latest model 300mm f/4 Nikkor which has VR (vibration reduction). Small, light and optically impressive - it's a wonderful zoo walkaround lens. What's not to like (apart from the price )?

Nice! Looks like a very capable lens - and somewhat more portable than the 500mm, I should imagine!
