Is any of the vegetation actually living? It's a shame, there are plenty of good trees round the site of the enclosure, if only that bird contraption-climbing frame hadn;t been built outside the blackburn, they could have had a very good piece of land to build this species an enclosure. The previous red pandas were exhibited in the cat terraces, and before that were housed in a circular exhibit with a mature, live, tree in the middle. IMO both previous enclosures were superior to this one.
There is some live vegetation, though the quantity of dead leaves and branches was overwhelming at the time I took this photo. Within a week of this photo being taken, they cleared much of the dead material, and it looked a lot cleaner - small budding trees, like the one on the far right of the photo, stood out a bit more. I can't remember whether they added some more climbing opportunities as well. I think there should be a couple of photos somewhere in the gallery. The cleanup has made the enclosure look a lot more reasonable, and I'm not sure if my photos do it justice.
I agree that the space wasted on the weird climbing frame would have been much better used as part of an enclosure.
